OT Student Receives Award for PHHP Research Day Poster

WP_20160413_11_28_31_ProTori Galatas, a student in the Master of Occupational Therapy Program, received an award for the top poster presented at the 29th Annual PHHP Research Day. She was one of only seven award recipients from across the college. Ms. Galatas’ poster, Gait Abnormalities and Associated Changes in Skeletal Muscle Biology in a CMT1A Mouse Model, highlighted the research she completed within the lab of mentor Dr. Lucia Notterpek, Chair and Professor of the Department of Neuroscience in the University of Florida’s McKnight Brain Institute. Ms. Galatas presented during the poster session, followed by a short presentation with other awardees in which she applied her experience with basic science research to evidence-based practice in occupational therapy. Ms. Galatas is the first MOT student to receive this recognition. She had previously received a research award from the Florida Occupational Therapy Association during their fall meeting.

Congratulations Tori!
