The Department of Occupational Therapy, College of Public Health and Health Professions at the University of Florida, invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month non-tenure track Research Assistant Professor position. The successful applicant will conduct research within the Institute for Mobility, Activity, and Participation with a focus on driving rehabilitation science and connected/autonomous/shared/electric vehicles and how they apply to vulnerable populations, including older adults and people with disabilities. Duties include all aspects of research including proposal development and submission, managing existing and new grants, scientific dissemination including conference presentations, manuscript publications, developing knowledge translation activities for the lay population, scientific report writing, and co-supervising graduate students. Position will engage in teaching, research, and service activities as assigned and is expected to be 75% research, 20% teaching and a 5% service distribution.
Candidate must have a research doctorate in occupational therapy, rehabilitation science, or a relevant, related discipline. Successful candidates will have clearly defined expertise in a relevant research area and a record of publications in peer reviewed journals. The ideal applicant will have experience in teaching in an occupational therapy education program.
The Department of Occupational Therapy is a national leader in occupational therapy education and research. The department has active research programs in the areas of driving rehabilitation and community mobility, and learning disabilities, as well as outstanding academic and training programs that include an entry-level Doctor of Occupational Therapy and a Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Science program. The department is a co-lead in the NIH-funded K12 Rehabilitation Research Career Development consortium and is home to the Institute for Mobility, Activity and Participation. The Department of Occupational Therapy is housed within the College of Public Health and Health Professions and is well integrated within the Health Science Center providing a wealth of opportunities for research collaborations.
