Dr. Liu is among the newest LeaRRn Learning Health Systems Scholars

Dr. Chiung-ju (CJ) Liu, PhD, OTR/L, FGSA

Dr. Chiung-ju (CJ) Liu, PhD, OTR/L, FGSA, Associate Professor of Occupational Therapy at the University of Florida, and 2020 AOTF Implementation Grant Recipient, is among the newest Learning Health Systems (LHS) Scholars. The LHS Scholar Program partners rehabilitation researchers with health system stakeholders for 12 months to prepare for research or a quality improvement project on a priority topic identified by the health system.

Dr. Liu’s research passion is to support healthy aging by enhancing older adults’ functional ability, which is the ability to participate in activities that are valuable for health and independence. Her areas include task-oriented exercise, late-life disability prevention, home-based intervention, and functional outcome measures. Dr. Liu is skilled in systematic reviews, designing intervention studies, and conducting clinical trials. Her work has been supported by the American Occupational Therapy Foundation, RRF Foundation for Aging, and the National Institute on Aging.

 

Dr. Liu will work with the Brooks Rehabilitation Skilled Nursing Facility under the mentorship of Dr. Linda Resnik and Mr. Daniel Ciolek. Her LHS Scholar project will optimize functional outcomes for short-stay residents in the Skilled Nursing Facility.
