Dr. Wu obtained his Doctor of Philosophy (2007) from the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience, Duke University, USA. His dissertation title is: The mechanism of spatial selective attention. Prior to obtaining his PhD Dr. Wu completed his Bachelor of Science, School of Occupational Therapy (1998), at the College of Medical National Taiwan University, Taiwan. Dr. Wu is bringing excellent expertise in teaching and research. Specifically his teaching expertise includes courses taught in Cognitive neuroscience; Advanced cognitive neuroscience; Design and application of cognitive training modalities for older adults; Matlab; and Evidence-based OT. From a research perspective, and as PI, Dr. Wu has (or has had) funded projects in the areas of Cognitive Flexibility Training (Tab-CFT) for Dementia prevention; Multisensory sequence processing; and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) training on emotional regulation. Most recently he has secured funding to study Handwriting as a behavioral marker to develop an AI based early detection system for patient with cognitive decline; Cognitive maps of the environment in the aging brain; and Effects of forest therapy on cognitive performance and mental health in older adults.
Dr. Pamela Hess is a pivotal figure in the Occupational Therapy profession. She serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor with a joint appointment in the Department of Occupational Therapy, College of Public Health and Health Professions, and the Department of Surgery, Division of Education in the College of Medicine. Her clinical and scholarly interests focus on women’s health, surgical ergonomics, and wellness. She received her Clinical Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from the University of Indianapolis in 2020. Dr. Hess’s previous clinical experience includes in-patient acute care, pelvic health therapy, and surgical ergonomics and wellness. Her previous academic appointment was as a Clinical Assistant Professor and the Academic Fieldwork Coordinator for Indiana University’s Doctor of Occupational Therapy program in Indianapolis, IN. Dr. Hess is dedicated to ongoing professional development and seeks research and pedagogical innovation opportunities to remain at the cutting edge of her discipline and specialty practice interests. She is driven to help individuals achieve their fullest potential and promote health and wellness across the lifespan.
