Mary Ellen Young, PhD
Mary Ellen Young, PhD, is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy. Her broad research interest is in biopsychosocial adaptation to chronic illness and disability. Her portfolio includes research in cancer, stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, and family caregiving. She is a qualitative research specialist, serving as Co-PI on the grant, Development of a Model of Prostate Cancer Care and Survivorship (CaPCaS) for Black Men: A Grounded Theory Study of Ethnically Diverse Black Men (Department of Defense PCRP Health Disparity Award). She provides methodological consultation to other faculty and students through the Clinical and Translational Science Institute at the University of Florida. She teaches and mentors both graduate students and undergraduate students, and was Teacher of the Year for the College of Public Health and Health Professions in 2012.
