Fourth-year student, Marianne Philipps, created the KnOTs of Love student group in the Fall of 2019 to teach her fellow OT students how to knit or crochet. Since the inception of KnOTs of Love, over forty-five students have learned to knit or crochet and they have collected over 35 items for donation.
As a capstone student in the Department of Occupational Therapy, fourth-year doctor of occupational therapy (OTD) student, Pooja Surkanti, developed three simulation labs for second-year students as her capstone project.
The Department of Occupational Therapy welcomed a new class of Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) students during orientation on August 17 and 18.
April is OT Month, and the class of 2021 UF occupational therapy students celebrated by writing letters to the editor and to state and national policy makers about occupational therapy’s distinct value. The student’s letters drew reader’s attention by linking current events and policy issues to the role of occupational therapy.

The Occupational Therapy department is taking action to start addressing a culture change that is both necessary and critical so that each one of our black students and each one of our black colleagues feel that they matter- that means to feel valued and to feel that they can contribute to the value of the department, the college, and the profession.
Under the mentorship of Drs. Classen and Struckmeyer, PhD student Carlyn Ellison from the Department of Occupational Therapy and Rehabilitation Science program has been selected for the CTSI TL1 Training grant.
