The PHHP Outstanding Alumni for 2019 include Consuelo Kreider, PhD, OTR/L and Becky Piazza, OTD, MS, OTR/L, BCPR for the Department of Occupational Therapy. They will be honored at a ceremony during the college’s alumni reunion on October 5.
Joanne Foss, PhD, OTR, FAOTA, a professor emerita of the college’s department of occupational therapy, has received a Retired Educator’s Commendation from the American Occupational Therapy Association.
Two UFOT faculty members, Dr. Christine Myers and Dr. Carolyn Hanson, were recently honored for excellent contributions in editorial functions and/or teaching.
The Florida Occupational Therapy Association (FOTA) annual meeting was held in October. Forty-two faculty members and students from the Department of Occupational Therapy took advantage of this opportunity to present their scientific work via workshops, short courses, and poster presentations.
The University of Florida International Center honored a College of Public Health and Health Professions faculty member and several graduate students during International Education Week, held November 12 to 16. Shabnam Medhizadah, a doctoral student in the rehabilitation science program who hails from Canada, was awarded with a certificate of excellence.

Dr. Sherrilene Classen receives the Scholarship Award for outstanding scientific and leadership contributions from the Association for Driver Rehabilitation Specialists.
The College of Public Health and Health Professions named Sherrilene Classen, Ph.D., M.P.H., OTR/L, FAOTA, FGSA, the Outstanding Alumna of the Year. She was recognized at the college’s convocation ceremony May 5.
