Students, staff and faculty gathered to celebrate the Accessible Day at the Lake event during the afternoon of Oct. 21. The event took Gators out of the busy swamp and into a state of relaxation with Lake Wauburg’s cool breeze, clear sky and calm water. As guests enjoyed the lake and its inclusive activities, they recognized Disability Awareness Month.
Congratulations to first year OTD students, Angela Cao, who was awarded the Alice C. Jantzen Fellowship, and Anushka Pandya, who was awarded the Clare Shoemyen Graduate Fund award.
Her courageous journey inspired many. Now her equipment donation will enhance OT education.
The Occupational Therapy Equal Access Clinic (OT EAC) is a student run clinic serving the greater Gainesville area. This clinic provides a unique opportunity for students, faculty members, and community clinicians to collaboratively promote client independence and engagement in occupations.
The University of Florida's Doctor of Occupational Therapy students were featured in this Gainesville Sun article, highlighting third-year student Bhumi Patel and the students' collaboration with the Transitions Life Center in Ocala, which supports the independence of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
This milestone class also holds the distinction of being the first OTD graduates from a Florida public institution.
