The Opioid Epidemic: History and Clinical Implications

In this course, the author provides an overview of opioids. The course includes the main types of opioids and their effects on body systems. Healthcare professionals taking the course will learn the historical context of opioids that have influenced the opioids epidemic as well as implications for clinical practice. This course is well-suited for occupational therapists as well as other professionals who are involved with pain management.

Faculty Spotlight: Christine T Myers, PhD, OTR/L

Dr. Myers has been elected to receive the Roster of Fellows award from the American Occupational Therapy Association. She has also been awarded the Distinguished Scholar Fellow from the National Academies of Practice in Occupational Therapy.

In her unstoppable journey to empower seniors, Dr. Sherrilene Classen, a professor and chair of the Department of Occupational Therapy in the UF College of Public Health and Health Professions, is getting older adults comfortable with autonomous vehicle technology as well as conducting research to develop autonomous transit resources to promote their independence and safety.
